Analysing Conventions of Film Social Media Pages - Conclusion
I have noticed a number of similarities across the different social media platforms when they are used to advertise films. The platform itself always remains true to the social media company (Instagram, X, Facebook) and film social media pages always include the following:
- banner (features the film poster or DVD/Blu-ray)
- profile picture (often the main character from the film)
- menu bar (with links to photos, videos, comments)
- opportunity to buy tickets or purchase film in alternative formats
- release dates
- posters
- trailers
- user interaction through comments/shares/likes
- the title of the film will be prominent
- reviews/awards
- behind the scenes footage
- interviews with cast/crew
- hashtags
