Crime Film Poster Analysis 1 - 'The Town'

Now that I have decided I want to create a marketing campaign for a film from the crime genre, I'm going to look at some posters from crime movies to see the ways the posters reflect the genre.

The first poster I am going to look at is for the crime film 'The Town'.

• the tagline makes reference to genre, 'bank robbery'
• the mise-en-scene makes reference to genre, the masks/disguises, the weapons
• the dark colour palette reinforces the seriousness of the genre
• the sans-serif font implies there will be action (anchoring the image)
