Analysing Conventions of Film Social Media Pages - Introduction

While there are still traditional forms of film marketing, in the digital age much of the marketing for films has moved online, with social media platforms and websites a crucial element to a film's success. Many websites/social media pages are created very early on in the marketing of a film, and they sometimes feature teaser posters and teaser trailers.

The website for a film encourages audiences to look at it to find out more information about a film and it helps lead to the buzz created ahead of the film's release. The website and social media platforms are used to distribute trailers and other video material from the film (such as interviews and behind the scenes content), and they also include images from the film. Sometimes (if released) games will be displayed on the website that the audience can play. Character information will also most likely be included alongside a range of information regarding the films story and also chat rooms and many more features which engage audiences. These websites always have links to the film's social media platforms for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter (now X), and often other, less-established social media platforms.

I am going to looking at the website and social media pages from the following film:

'Cruella'
